MGB 4033 : conclusion

Salam, everyone !

I will wrap my entry for this subject with shares some moment that I love.

Current issue : my lecture ask me to find one current issue and share it with other coursmate and luckily when mu turn showed up, I just need to present it in front of my classmate. Phew—

Next, we need to read several case study. I really love all the case study story.

Problem solver it’s about hebat gagah company who are planning to produce halal gelatin for muslim market.  we discussed what the company strength,weaknesses, opportunity and threat. the company has a big chance to win the market since there has a little competitors in the market and there has many strengthens can bear the opportunities but they need a lot of money to make a pelan come true. It’s had a lot of money to this project until now the pelan still not complete.

Gloria jean coffee case study under five porter’s model. How they can survive their company in Malaysia while there has a lot of coffee shop in Malaysia. Rival :starbuck. New entrants : easy to entrants. Supplier : high bargaining power. Buyers : high bargaining power. Substitute : cendol. Gloria jean coffee also have good startegiza marketing segments which is start in USA for 25 years,316 outlets, 2010 sold with 102 outlets. Then nabi salleh, master franchisee from Australia buy the Gloria jean coffee make agreement with thi thong group (TTG) which has huge Malaysian food and beverages company in Malaysia. Tenure for 10 years and has influence in Asia tenggara ; Malaysia,brunai,Singapore and Thailand. First operate in Malaysia situated at KLCC and 13 more outlet in klang valley, penang and Johor baharu. Focus more on city centre of the state. Next plan is made agreement with sharul azlan, CEO my franchise sdn. Bhd and he provide financial to GJC.  

KPJ health care case study focus more corporate level strategies. KPJ health goals to increase the number of hospital and expand international (already situated in Indonesia and arab saudi). KPJ healthcare focus on medical tourism with pelan to do joint venture with hotel, insurance provider and agency tourism. Other than that, KPJ healthcare has their own college business for nursing. KPJ healthcare plan to through the international market with provide consultation to the management service contract to hospital needed. They also interest to choose merger and acquisition to help problem hospital. Now, KPJ healthcare one of the famous hospital and has their own customer in Malaysia .

UMW holdings case study has diversified relation. It has operations in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and etc. they focus on four business operation ; automotive assembly and distribution of Toyota lines, automotive components and lubricants original equipment maintenance (OEM) & replacement equipment maintenance (REM), heavy equipment, and oil and gas drilling service.  For number 1,2,3 business are related but not for number 4. For drilling oil gas, UMW has bright future in business because in Malaysia just UMW holdings just need to beat with sapura kencana. When we discussed further pelan for UMW hodlings, we can see that this company has big influence among people and good potential to go further in the future.

We do all the business discussion in the class among our groups then we need to write and submitted to our lecture via online (goals = our university learning system)

I have a lot of fun take this subject this semester. Thank to my lecture and all my friends. Hope all of you enjoy read my entry as much I enjoy wrote about it.

MGB 4033 : strategic management from islamic perspective

Salam,everyone !

Strategic management from islamic perspective was the last chapter for strategic management and operational. Sadly to said, I can’t have my lecture notes because of some failure application but no worries I find another lecture notes from UIAM and I will share with all of you.

Management from islamic perspectives is an approach emerging discipline. To manage the organization we need a knowledge from revealed sources. It must be applied with beliefs and practices.

Sources of knowledge for islamic perspective :

First,Primary revealed knowledge sources is the Holy Al-Quran.

second, basic sources elaborated through hadis :the tradition, the sunah, the action of the prophet (SAW)

third, islamic scholar who treat fiqh and the science of islamic jurispundences.

forth, reported saying & action of the first four caliphs ; sayidina abu bakar (RA), sayidina umar al-khattab,      sayidina uthman affan, and sayidina ali abi talib.

Paradigm guiding  management of organizations is no demarcation between the secular and the religious;human life is an organic whole; All human activity can be Ibadah provided they are guided by Allah’s commandments

Purpose of human existence dictating management of organizations is to obey and fulfill Allah’s commandments and act as the vice-regent of Allah on earth

Purpose of organization Organizations are meant to be groups of people who coming together for attaining the purpose of human existence

Nature of organizational objectives are both economic and non-economic and are subservient to larger purpose of human existence

Source of ethics and values governing management of organizations is the revealed knowledge and the traditions of the Prophet (SAAS) constitute the ultimate source of business ethics and personal values.

Organizational Control Organizational control has to operate in a way designed to make the human being subservient to the will of Allah

Locus of control is internal. Each person is responsible and accountable for his actions

Organizational responsibility and accountability depends on human being has choice, free will and freedom of action therefore is responsible and accountable for all actions.

As a muslim, we need to find we we can do to show and attract people for knowing more about islam. Islam is more an action religion and it has their own beauty to revealed if you want to find. insya-Allah.  May ALLAH Ease everything.

MGB 4033 : corporate level strategies

Salam everyone !

I will continue to share with all of you about the corporate level strategies.

Corporate level strategies are built to identify strategies that corporation or organizations decide to pursue for the benefit of the whole organization.

These are usually decided at the top management.

top management would focus on overall status of the organization and where it should be going from the point onwards.

The various corporate level strategies will be discuss under the following :

        I.            Grand strategies :

a)      Growth : year’s growth rate is higher than the previous year

b)      Stable Growth : next year’s growth rate is the same as the previous year

c)       Turnaround : the growth rate is positive as compared to the previous year

d)      Combination : organization adopt a few strategies combining some of the three strategies mentioned above ; growth, stable growth and turnaround

      II.            Secondary level : 

      a)      Expansion strategy : increase in terms of number, branches and etc  (no new product introduce)

      b)      Integrate : more control on production or service.

·         Backward : control the availability of resources

·         Forward : control of the added value activities

·         Horizontal : control the business operations

     c)       Diversify : increase in the number of outputs produced or services rendered

     ·         Concentric  :  increase in the number of outputs in the same industry or related to the current activities

      ·         Conglomerate : increase in the number of outputs not related to the existing activities

      ·         Horizontal : diversify because  of request by its regular clients.

      ·         Geographical : company goes into a new country for the first time to carry out the current business activities

d)      Reduce : action when facing some difficulties on their operation and want to avoid negative performance.

·         Retrenchment : option to cut cost

·         Divestiture : interpreted from various angles

·         Liquidation :selling of the whole company

    III.            Tactical level strategies :

a)      Organically : company growth with their strength and capabilities ; setting a branch, recruiting and training

b)      Joint venture : A + B = C (a joint venture with an agreed upon equity composition)

c)       Merger : establishment new company  while the companies name before are not exist anymore

d)      Acquisition/ Takeover : by buying the majority equity of the company

e)      Reverse takeover : interested to be listed in the stock market.

f)       Strategic alliances : understanding between two or more parties to work together  without any structural changes

g)      Licensing / Franchising : seek permission to  run a business based on licensor.

Corporate level strategies are important to the company. We need to have a good corporate team to make a good business.

MGB 4033 : business level strategies

salam everyone ^^,

today i would like to share with all of you about level strategies. there has three level strategies which is business level strategies, functional level strategies and corporate level strategies. my pleasure to share with you about business level strategies first.

Business level strategies refer to strategies that firm use to build competitive advantage.  These strategies include low cost leadership, differentiation and focus strategy.

There has three establish by firm to defend their position against competitors ;

First :

Cost leadership strategies refer to the firm’s ability to produce goods and services at a lower cost than its rivals. Firm can achieve cost leadership through cost minimizing along the firm’s value chain activities, economies of scale , experience curve effects, efficient scale facilities, waste reduction and producing high volumes of standardized products. for example  ; Dell (computer), Air Asia (air travel), Mydin (grocery stores)

Second :

Differentiation strategy is a business level strategy based on providing buyers with a unique or special product or service that distinguishes the firm’s products or service s from its competitors. firms can be differentiate themselves through product features, product customization or the level of service and support provided to the customers. a differentiation strategy can fail when the firm can no longer sustain its differentiation with product innovations or service enhancement. for example ; Apple in computer technology, Volvo in car safety and Nokia in innovation.

Third :

Focus strategy refers to the business level strategy based on providing products or services to a specific niche within an industry. focus strategies can occur in two forms : cost-based focus and differentiation- based focus. example  of specific market segments that can be targeted by a focus strategy include : (a) paricular consumer groups (babies,pregnant mother) , (b) different segment of a product line ( people who prefer organic food) , (c) different geographic or regional markets.

MGB4033 : Introduction

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

salam,everyone.

regarding last post i will update more about strategy and objective.

before that,i will share with you general knowledge how word strategy be found, it come from greek word ; stratagos which related to war or a leader. 

there has three stage of strategies. 

first, strategy formulation. it including vision,mission,objective. then analyze internal and external environment. then identify & choose formulation.

second, strategy implementation which is after we finalize the analysis we need to choose which plan will give us good result . 

third strategy evaluation translate into operational plan or action after done with implementation we need to look back to the plan we construct it success or not.

for objectives, we need to do SMART  :
S = specific ; specific project in details
M = measurable ; can be measure
A = achievable / attainable ; can be achieve in the end

R = reliable / realistic ; can be done
T = timely ; an important thing.

why we need have strategy ?

to utilize our strength and to be better than our rival.

in other to be better we should has advantages in characteristics.

V = valuable

R = rare
I = hard to imitate & subtitute
 O = organized to explore.

mulakan dengan izin DIA
sentias mencari keberkatan yang berbaki.
lelah itu di abaikan.
kuat,kuat,kuat.
banyak bekalan bole dilakukan.
ikhlas,istiqamah,tawadduk.
banyak azam yang perlu di fikirkan.
harap di beri kemudahan dari DIA.
